DRAGPIPE INTERVIEW
November 16, 2002

Ed Martin for Prophecy21.com: How's the tour been goin?
Jai Diablo Vocalist for Dragpipe: It's been good. It's been up and down ya know. We toured all summer now we've been standin around and playin radio shows. The past two days we played Massachusetts and yesterday it was Nonpoint, Murderdolls and hed (pe). We're doin a couple Korn shows next month. Then in January it starts back up with like Trust Company and a bunch of other stuff like that that's lined up for next year.

P21: Are you happy to be playin in your home state tonight?
JD: Yeah, this is the last show of this tour. So, I play here then I get to go to my home.

P21: How did the deal with Interscope come about?
JD: We we're playin New York and just word of mouth and kids coming out to the shows and playin CBs and stuff like that and we had a friend who does the Buzz show on K-ROCK on Sunday nights and they were playin us on K-ROCK and then it just kind of came about.

P21: What's your favorite song on the album?
JD: Seeds of Change.

P21: Who are some of your favorite bands to play with?
JD: Deadsy, I'm happy that were playin with them today. I like the Murderdolls. I'd like to play with System of a Down, I like them. Down would be cool to play with; we like playin with the rock 'n' roll bands.

P21: What's it like goin from playin at places like the Saint in Asbury to playing at the Reading Festival?
JD: We like playing at the smaller clubs cause like it's more intimate with the crowd ya know. But, I mean playing in front of like 10,000 people or playin in front of 10 people we just give it our all and try to play our best.

P21: What do you guys usually do to kill time on the road?
JD: Ummmm, sleep. Drink. Drink, sleep, and watch The Sopranos.

P21: What do you do outside of play music?
JD: That's pretty much all I do, play music, read books, watch movies, hang out with my girlfriend, shit like that.

P21: How did you guys come up with the name of the band?
JD: My guitar players, Slick and Sleeves, when they were livin in LA they were in this bar called Top Fuel, actually it's a coffee shop called Top Fuel and there was like a dragpipe on the wall and they were like, "That'd be a cool name for a band." From there it just kinda stuck. And we consider our kind of music gasoline rock and it kind of just fits.

P21: How did you decide on the name of the album?
JD: "Music For the Last Day of Your Life," it was just like with all this shit goin on and all this crazy Columbine to fucking Twin Towers it seems like everybody is just living their lives like its there last day, at least they should be anyway. We consider our music high-energy, intense music so its like that last special part of your life before you die.

P21: Have you played any shows in the past that really stick out in your memory?
JD: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with Korn that was amazing. Yesterday was super cool with Murderdolls, Hed (pe), and Nonpoint, Massachusetts. Reading Festival and Leeds Festival in Europe. We really had a good time in Germany with Filter. There were a bunch of good ones. Birch Hill tonight ought to be insane.

P21: Thanks is there anything that you want to add?
JD: There's been some stuff on the website about like, "You guys are from New Jersey, but you're sayin you're a New York band," stuff like that. But, its like we don't say were a New York Band. We got signed out of New York, our fan base is in New York. So its like Interscope is based in New York and they kind of just gave us the whole New York thing. But we never forget where were from, we're a New Jersey band and we say we're a New Jersey band. Other press people have kind of quoted us as a New York band, but we never really did.
